I Lost 60 kg: My Journey to a 360° Abdominoplasty

My name is Gérard, and I’m 46 years old.

For a long time, my weight played a major role in my life. After many attempts to lose weight, I eventually made an important decision: to undergo a sleeve gastrectomy.

That surgery completely changed my daily life. Little by little, I lost almost 60 kg.

Watching the number on the scale go down was incredible. I had more energy, I could move more easily, wear different clothes, and do things I had sometimes avoided for years.

I was proud of myself. I felt like I had taken control of my life again.

But when I looked in the mirror, the story was a little different.

I had lost the weight… but not the skin

After such a major weight loss, my body had changed, but my skin had not tightened the way I had hoped.

I was left with a significant amount of excess skin around my abdomen, but also along my flanks and back. At times, it almost felt as though I had not completely reached the end of my journey.

I had worked so hard to lose those 60 kg, yet I was still hiding my body.

My clothes were smaller, but I still didn’t feel completely free in them. At the beach, in a changing room, or simply standing in front of the mirror, the excess skin was a constant reminder of my former weight.

It was frustrating because I had changed so much on the inside, but on the outside I still did not fully recognize the person I had become.

I realized I wanted to complete the journey

That is what led me to consult Dr. Danino.

I wasn’t looking for perfection. I simply wanted my body to reflect more closely what I had accomplished.

During the consultation, we looked at my silhouette as a whole. The excess skin was not limited to the front of my abdomen. It extended almost completely around my torso.

A traditional tummy tuck would therefore not have been enough.

After surgery

The first few weeks require patience.

You have to accept the swelling, the fatigue, and the gradual changes, and give your body time to recover.

But quite quickly, I started to see my new shape emerge.

My abdomen was flatter. My waist was better defined. The excess skin around my flanks and back was gone.

For the first time since losing the weight, I truly felt that I could see the result of everything I had worked for.

Today, I recognize myself more

What changed was not only my appearance.

Today, I choose my clothes without constantly thinking about what I need to hide. I feel more comfortable with my body. I carry myself differently. I simply feel more aligned with who I am.

The sleeve gastrectomy allowed me to lose 60 kg and profoundly improve my health and lifestyle.

For me, the 360° abdominoplasty was the final step in that transformation.

I would not say that it gave me a new body.

It allowed me to finally see the body I had worked so hard to achieve.

When I look back at my journey today, I do not just see weight loss or surgery.

I see everything I went through to get here.

And most importantly, I can finally look at my body with pride.
