Abdominoplasty - Abdominal Lift
An abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, is a cosmetic procedure to firm and flatten the abdomen, often chosen after significant weight loss or pregnancy. It is performed under general anesthesia and involves removing excess skin and fat while tightening the abdominal muscles. Recovery requires rest and medical follow-up to prevent complications, resulting in a flatter abdomen and improved appearance and self-confidence.
Abdominoplasty: A Solution to Tone Your Abs
Abdominal imperfections can affect self-confidence. Fortunately, abdominoplasty, a cosmetic surgery, helps reduce excess skin and eliminate fatty tissue in the belly area.
To determine the type of abdominoplasty that is right for you, it is essential to analyze the characteristics of your abdomen, taking into account the condition of the skin, the amount of fatty tissue, the tone of the abdominal muscles, the anatomical structure of the belly and your expectations.
This assessment allows Dr. Danino to plan a targeted and tailored intervention. To correct abdominal imperfections, two main options are available: abdominal liposuction and abdominoplasty.
The latter aims to remove stretched, scarred or stretch-marked skin and to tighten the surrounding skin.
It is also possible to combine abdominoplasty with liposuction and toning of the tissues under the abs. If you are obese, partial or significant weight loss is often necessary before undergoing this cosmetic procedure.

Medical Examinations: Pre-operative examinations, including blood tests and possibly an electrocardiogram, are performed to assess the patient's overall health.
Pre-operative Instructions: The patient receives specific instructions regarding medications to avoid, fasting before the operation, and other precautions to take. It is often recommended to stop smoking several weeks before surgery to promote better healing.

The Surgical Intervention
Anesthesia: On the day of the procedure, the patient is given general anesthesia to ensure they feel no pain during the surgery.
Incisions:
Full Abdominoplasty: A long horizontal incision is made above the pubic area, with a possible incision around the navel.
Mini-Abdominoplasty: A smaller incision is made just above the pubic area.
Muscle Tightening: Weak or separated abdominal muscles are tightened and sutured for a firmer abdominal wall.
Removal of Excess Skin and Fat: Excess skin and fat are removed, and the remaining skin is pulled down and sutured in place.
Navel Repositioning: If necessary, the navel is repositioned to appear natural after the skin tightening.
Incision Closure: The incisions are closed with sutures, skin adhesives, or surgical clips. Bandages and compression garments are applied to support the abdomen during healing.

After the procedure: post-operative care:
Recovery Room: After the procedure, the patient is monitored in the recovery room until fully awake and stable.
Hospitalization: Depending on the extent of the procedure, a 24- to 48-hour hospital stay may be necessary.
Home Care: The patient receives detailed instructions on home care, including managing drains (if used), taking pain medication, and precautions to avoid complications.
Medical Follow-up: Regular follow-up appointments are scheduled to monitor healing, remove sutures, and ensure the patient is recovering properly.

Results and Healing

Long-Term Results: Final results appear gradually as swelling goes down and scars fade, which may take several months.
Scars: Scars improve over time and can be reduced with proper care and possibly additional treatments like laser or scar creams.
